From the Coast, Willamette Valley, and the Mountains a Drone can be that signature touch that will forever have you feeling sky-high about your vows.

Can You use Popular Songs on Your Wedding Video?

It is your wedding and video, so you would think you could put whatever music you want to on your video. So you would think, but it is possible but not very practical, and here is why?

  1. You must contact the Record Company, Agent, or even the Artist to say Yes or No.
  2. You will need a Lawyer to sift through the 22-45 small print pages that our long and detailed.
  3. This is your responsibility and not of the Videographer.

An example of this process says it is a song with 2 Artists on it. You not only need to contact the 2 Artists but Writers, Producers and find the right record company. You must have all consent to the license of the song. If you cannot locate someone, you do have the option of obtaining a Copyright Lawyer, but again there is no guarantee a resolution will fit your deadline, or you will get the result you are looking for

So how can you get around this? At Photos By Orion, we pay a monthly fee for the service called Triple Scoop. They are a music licensing group that houses thousands of songs and instrumentals for your wedding video. The choices are unlimited, and in fact, you can pick these selections by occasion, genre, mood, and even atmosphere.

We find the options really help with the editing and production value. But, in the end, you want something to listen to on your video that does not feel like a broken record but your own original that will last a lifetime.

This year due to COVID-19 Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Salem was not able to have their traditional Vacation Bible School program. We worked with them to make a 3 day series of videos for children to be able to watch at home. We filmed, edited, added music and on-screen graphics. We look forward to creating more videos like this.
