Description
Chambers Railroad Covered Bridge is the only remaining bridge of its type west of the Mississippi River. It was literally about to collapse when is was rescued, restored and made part of a city park in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Railroad covered bridges are uniquely designed for steam locomotive use. They are usually more than twice the height of a normal covered to prevent hot embers from a locomotive’s smoke stake from catch the roof on fire.
